KW37 - Language

August 19, 2019

On this podcast, we have discussed the importance of the stories we tell ourselves in how they can change our lives ad shape the future. We have also often discussed many facets of communication with others. In this episode we take a slightly deeper look at the words themselves. How can changing, moving, or removing words shape our identity. We also discuss how internal language effects external language, the importance of metrics and self talk, and even play with a few examples of how we can practice this.

Listen in and if you find value in any of our episodes, share it with just one friend. Spread the love!

KW36 - Bring the Energy

KW36 - Bring the Energy

August 12, 2019

This topic came from our good friend and listener Josh Carasquillo as he was talking to Drew about how he began to become aware that the energy he brought into the home each day effected the his wife and child. We break down how our energy (positive or negative) can effect relationships and atmospheres, how to build an awareness of what type of energy you're carrying at certain times and in certain situations, the difference between "faking it" short term and long term, the importance of communication between you and the people you care about, and how we might be able to positively change our energy in the moment.

This was a really fun discussion and we look forward to your feedback... so listen in and make sure you BRING THE ENERGY!

KW35 - A Conversation on Active Killings

KW35 - A Conversation on Active Killings

August 5, 2019

In the past week there have been four active shooter events in the US. A work place violence situation at a WalMart in Mississippi, the Garlic Festival shooting in California, a shooting at a WalMart in Texas, and the morning of this recording was a shooting an hour away from our studio at a bar in Dayton, OH.

Aaron has spent the last decade learning about and teaching on the subject of Active Shooters. In the last four years he has taught seminars across the country, written a book on the topic, and done numerous podcast interviews. He spends a lot of time talking about this topic.

The following episode is not to give answers or take sides, but more importantly to explore the complexity of talking about this subject. We endeavor to identify issues we have in communication, and try to give insight into how we might have more meaningful conversations to help us begin the journey to truly create some type of positive change.

We genuinely hope you find value in this conversation and look forward to exploring it with you.

KW33 - Refill Your Cup

KW33 - Refill Your Cup

July 22, 2019

This week we sit down outside Drew's house drinking White Claw while a pork shoulder smokes in the background. We're discussing the importance of Refilling Your Cup. Drew and Chelsea are coming off a two week vacation, just a month after Aaron took 9 days off himself.

We dive into why time away is important, but also why we need to focus on continually filling our cup throughout the week.

Sit back, relax, and listen along.

And if you find value in this podcast at all, please share it with one friend. Just one. Be good, be awesome!

KW32 - Tribal Thinking and Social Media

KW32 - Tribal Thinking and Social Media

July 15, 2019

This week we break down the idea of tribal versus global thinking. The concept of focusing more on genuinely engaging with a smaller group of people that you bring value to and bring value to your life, instead of focusing on getting as much attention as possible. This is something that can be applied in business and life. A lot of this discussion focuses around social media, how we have used it int he past, how we are getting away from it more and more, the positive effects it has had on our lives, and more.

KW31 - Nonviolent Communication

KW31 - Nonviolent Communication

July 8, 2019

This week we break down the book Nonviolent Communication and the process of NVC laid out by the author Marshall B. Rosenberg Ph.D. Don't let the title distract you from the root of the message. The book is about distinguishing between what we observe and how we evaluate, learning to separate judgement from discussion, identifying ours and others needs, and learning how to request what we need to satisfy those needs. The book is very eye opening and one that we have already found value in implementing into our lives and we imagine that you will as well.

KW30 - Reality: Notice, Imagine, Feel

KW30 - Reality: Notice, Imagine, Feel

July 1, 2019

In our very first episode we talked about the idea of "What makes you think your thoughts are real?" It's an interesting thought. we often don't realize just how much our imagination shapes our reality. We tend to fill in the blanks with our thoughts that may or may not be true. This can be a gift and a curse. In this episode we talk about three distinguishing between Noticing, Imagining, and Feeling and how these words/concepts are how we shape our reality.

June 24, 2019

How many times have you thought of doing something, or even said out loud you would do something and just didn't follow through? Are you someone that likes to plan or someone that just gets going? In this episode we discuss the importance of taking action, the issues we run into when we plan and don't do, seeing the big picture goals, the beauty in taking small actions over time, and how Drew and Aaron operate differently in this regard.

We also have a pretty HUGE announcement at the end which we're very excited about so tune in and enjoy!

KW28 - Stereotypes

KW28 - Stereotypes

June 17, 2019

When you hear the word stereotype, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it negative? Often it is. In this episode we look at stereotypes as a concept. What is the good, the bad, and the ugly of it. How do stereotypes help guide us in business, help create the first impression we desire, help guide the people we look to bring in. In life, how do stereotypes hold us back and effect us. It's a deep topic, but a really great discussion!
